Ranger

Mechanics

Rangers are one of the best damage classes in the game and can provide some good off-heals, or even later specialized to provide phenomenal healing from a primarily damage orientated class! Rangers also bring further utility to the group through their passive buffs Soul-Piercing Shot and Prevailing Winds.

While leveling, attribute points should be spent in approximately a 2 Strength : 3 Agility : 1 Intelligence ratio as its very important to get max attack speed and all 3 Ranger builds require a minimum of ~490 base Agility.

Once you have 490 Agility, you can now focus on a more specific build:
Agility
~700 Strength, ~2799 Agility, 1 Intelligence

A full Agi build Ranger provides exceptional physical damage, and survivability thanks to the armor provided by Agility. This is an easy build to learn, and to solo content with but is often outshone by the Hybrid and Intellect builds due to the difference in bosses physical and spell damage reduction. The main issue Agility Rangers encounter is mana regeneration. To counter this, you can either leave your Dark Arrow at level 5, or use Immortal Armor      .

At max level, the core setup is                            /      ,combined with your choice of Olympian Relic;

  1.      Immortal Armor of Hepheastus - This Relic offers survivability, mana regeneration and spell power. Easily the best choice to pull you through the difficult fights.

  2.    Ares Bloodthirsty Spear - Objectively best, combines damage, survivability, and can supplement damage further using Ares' Sword of Command on your familiar.

  3.      Thundering Hammer of Zeus - Good damage & group buffs

  4.     Towering Shield of Athena - With TSoA and Agi Ranger's naturally high armor, you will take virtually no physical damage, similar to the Midas' Band preventing incoming magical damage to become virtually unstoppable, but with reduced damage output.

  5.      Blazing Sword of Helios - Good damage, outdated build.

Hybrid

~700 Strength, ~2799 Agility, ~1 Intelligence

The Hybrid build currently offers the best damage for a Ranger at the expense of some of its healing potential. That said, the effective loss in healing per second is negligible. The increase in damage for this build is attributed to the fact it has capitalized on both Agility for physical damage, and Spell Power for spell damage, allowing its damage to be meaningfully increased by both spell and physical damage buffs concurrently.

At max level, the core setup is                            , combined with your choice of Olympian Relic;

  1.       Searing Flame of Prometheus - Searing Flame provides the best damage and healing output but sacrifices survivability

  2.      Immortal Armor of Hepheastus - This Relic offers survivability, mana regeneration and spell power. Easily the best choice to pull you through the difficult fights.

  3.      Thundering Hammer of Zeus - Good damage & group buffs

Intellect

~700 Strength, ~490 Agility, ~2300 Intelligence

The Intellect build for a Ranger provides some of the best healing in the game, second only to a Cleric. At the same time, it produces some of the best damage in the game.

At max level, the core setup is                            , combined with your choice of Olympian Relic;

  1.       Searing Flame of Prometheus - Searing Flame provides the best damage and healing output but sacrifices survivability

  2.      Immortal Armor of Hepheastus - This Relic offers survivability, mana regeneration and spell power. Easily the best choice to pull you through the difficult fights.

For your familiar skills, you want to invest in the 5% Damage buff from Ferocity for the Agility and Hybrid builds, and the 5% Spell Power buff from Aptitude for the Intellect build, along with your preference of 75 Strength/Agility/Intelligence from Gift of Endurance/Dexterity/Wisdom, to achieve the Agility and Strength breakpoints above.

>>Blanket Disclaimer: You, and every other player will need items from all crafting professions so there is no 'best' profession for any given class. If you are selfishly looking for personal enhancements, Alchemy is the only profession whereby you can't bring items you crafted through to another game, so this might be the best choice on a personal level, but increases dependency on others for crafting<<
